We are Turtle Rock Studios. An award-winning game developer of AAA first person shooters and other games, including the latest co-op shooter franchise, Back 4 Blood . We are located in the heart of Orange County, CA. We thrive in an open and collaborative environment which is led to this day by co-founders Chris Ashton and Phil Robb.

We are looking for a talented interface artist with a strong background in graphic design to champion the overall look and feel of the UI. You’ll be working with a core team of other artists, programmers, and designers on a cross-platform project. You’ll be called upon to help craft a consistent and eye-catching UI style across multiple platforms that the end user can navigate intuitively. You must be someone who’s self-directed, can manage your own time, and can identify the tasks needed to get the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the UI Lead, Art Director and Game Designers to conceptualize the UI aesthetic while maintaining an intuitive user experience
  • Create and maintain visual style guides
  • Create a large array of UI components which includes icons, menus, effects and animations
  • Collaborate with programmers to build your assets as you envisioned them
  • Proactively push the visual design of the UI and collaborate with other departments to help develop an exceptional product
  • Actively maintain file and resource organization
  • Proactively seek feedback while also providing it

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in video game development as a UI Artist
  • A portfolio that shows a strong understanding of flat UI
  • Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and the desire to keep learning
  • Excellent understanding of composition, color theory, hierarchy, animation, and typography
  • Highly proficient in Photoshop and After effects
  • Ability to paint and illustrate high quality visuals
  • Understanding of wireframing programs
  • Attention to detail for UX implications while iterating on UI layouts and components
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing designs throughout the project
  • Your resume must include a link to an online portfolio with examples of menu, icon and motion design work.
Preferences
  • Strong use of research and knowledge from first person shooters
  • Experience with industry standard game engines such as Unreal
  • Experience working with UMG
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Experience developing for the web or mobile devices
  • Experience with XD or Figma
  • VFX or compositing skills
  • 3D modeling skills
