THE ROLE
Senior UI Artists at Splash Damage utilise their experience with iconography and graphic design to create the visual identity of our user interfaces while ensuring a clear and consistent player experience.
Applying their range of honed artistic skills and working in partnership with the UI design team, Senior UI Artists are responsible for assisting in driving the concept, creation and iteration of the UI presentation. We trust our Senior UI Artists to work autonomously in establishing the art direction for UI elements and improving workflows to produce assets and documentation. Senior UI artists also work closely with the UI engineering team to establish technical and visual specifications to ensure UI implementation matches mock-ups.
Senior UI Artists enjoy working as part of a team in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere where they have the freedom to keep developing their technical ability. Working closely with the art director they are able to effectively communicate their artistic intent to their team and wider project stakeholders both verbally and visually. Senior UI Artists always look for ways to push themselves and regularly pass their knowledge on to other members of their team.
We believe that levelling up our skills is an essential part of the job and offer regular training opportunities and mentorship to all our Senior UI Artists.
You have:
- Experience in UI art for video games; you have worked on at least one commercial game project.
- A portfolio showcasing strong skills in graphic design, 2D art and motion graphics.
- Expert skills in Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong time management and organisational skills; you can assist others in getting the job done without supervision.
- A can-do attitude and strong teamwork skills; you love working with others and can provide clear direction and feedback to other artists when needed
- Experience in prototyping pre-vis UI
Bonus Points for:
- Unreal Engine 5 experience
- Knowledge of UI accessibility via visual design
- Experience with Substance Designer or equivalent shader/texture authoring tools
- Knowledge of 3D modelling packages such as 3D Studio Max, Maya or Zbrush
