Senior Tools Programmer

We are looking for a talented C++ programmer to join our Total War Core Technology team at our studio based in Horsham, West Sussex.
The Core Technology team on Total War, are currently driving the future of the tools and technology for how our games are made. As a team, we are transitioning to deliver our games, and core technology platform, with a software as a service approach. As such, we need someone to drive improvements to our game database engine and the associated editor, helping ensure users are productive in using the tool to design Total War games.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be instrumental to the improvements, maintenance & support of our game database engine & it’s editor.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Design & develop new features of the database engine and its editor
- Analyse, debug & fix issues
- Improve UX of the editor
- Support users with their queries and issues in using the database
- Be initiative-taking in talking to various stakeholders to understand the productivity, bottlenecks, and plan improvements to overcome them
- Assist the lead in maintaining the product backlog
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- Significant professional experience using C++ as the main language
- Strong programming skills in C++, with knowledge of the latest standards and best practices
- Experience with the QT framework
- Ability to write clean and maintainable code
- Good debugging and critical thinking skills
- Experience with source control (for example Perforce)
- Self-motivated and able to work closely with team members
- Effective communication skills
Desirable
- Good UI/UX skills
- Desire to always improve and keep up to date with current technologies
- Experience in Agile work practices
- Knowledge of TW games
