Senior Technical Writer, Professional Artistry - Marketplace

The opportunity

The Documentation team at Unity is growing! We’re seeking an experienced technical writer with passion and drive, technical aptitude, and excellent writing and editing skills to join us on our mission to deliver great docs to our users.

We’re looking for someone who can quickly form good working relationships with developers, and work collaboratively to produce great documentation that simplifies, explains, and empowers users to get the most from Unity products. This includes a mix of writing from scratch and revising draft documents supplied by developers, and overhauling legacy content.

Unity's growing Professional Artistry team is innovating in the space of content creation for games, VFX and virtual worlds. As part of the content creation workflow we are developing tools and content that streamline the work of artists, modelers and developers. What you’ll be doing

• Write, edit, and review user guide, and API documentation to help users get the most from our products
• Support multiple development teams to deliver high-quality technical content within a fast-paced software release schedule
• Use internal templates, standards and our in-house style guide (based on the Microsoft Writing Style Guide) to create clear and reusable content
• Adapt existing content strategy and create new ones to reflect user needs
• Help a globally distributed team improve the documentation user experience for our amazing community

What we’re looking for

• Experience working as a technical writer on different types of documentation such as API guides, programmer guides, installation guides, and user manuals
• Experience writing and publishing user-facing documentation for an international audience
• Excellent computing skills, ideally with an understanding of programming
• Impeccable standard of written and spoken English
• Experience balancing multiple priorities and delivering results within tight deadlines

You might also have

• Familiarity with 3D visualization and/or art tools that work with 3D data
• Experience producing documentation using MadCap Flare, Markdown, and/or XML, as well as understanding of source control tools (e.g. GitHub, Mercurial)
• Experience using issue trackers such as JIRA to track project tasks

Some travel may be required between Unity offices around the world and to some major industry events.
