SENIOR TECHNICAL ARTIST
As a Senior Technical Artist you’ll be guiding the development of high quality tools and features for a world-class, cross-platform proprietary game engine. You will work with Artists and Engineers to develop tools that enhance our quality bar and allow our artists to ship high quality content. Your primary responsibilities will be building and extending the tools in Maya to improve content creation workflows, R&D-ing new features, and helping to evangelize and guide the art direction of the game.
Responsibilities:
- You will use your communication skills to keep stakeholders and development teams aligned.
- You will help the Art Manager to create and implement action plans for the department's future success, emphasizing training and development.
- Use your knowledge as a 3D generalist to provide support for all art tools
- Collaborate with engineers to help develop and evolve our pipelines
- Build scripts in python that help improve and optimize the art pipeline
- Use Pyside2/PyQT to create intuitive and efficient tools for artists
- R&D new tools and emergent technologies to improve our pipelines
Required Skills:
- Minimum 4 years professional experience in games as a Technical Artist
- One or more high quality shipped titles on Mobile, Console, or PC
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Art, or a related field
- Intimate knowledge of Maya
- Excellent Python skills
- Write scripts using OOP and Python standards
- Performance and Memory optimization experience
- Excellent spoken and written communication
- Experienced with designing and building tools in an iterative model
- Able to work closely with an Art Director / Art Manager to drive and evangelize the artistic vision of the game.
Bonus Skills:
- Build advanced rigs for characters, creatures and other assets using Maya
- Experience rigging for a AAA game
- Experience with Substance or Houdini
- Experience creating procedural level content
- Have experience creating complex shaders
- Experience writing C++ plugins
- Have worked on mobile games and understands the limitations and constraints
- Writes tools with an eye for great UI/UX to optimize artist workflows
- Experience working on proprietary engines for games
- Experience authoring runtime animation graphs to create high-quality animations for games
- Passionate gamer that loves working with small teams
The base annual salary range for this position in the United States is $70,000 - $150,000. The base salary is just one part of the overall compensation package. This base pay range is for the United States only and does not apply to international locations. The range for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
