Senior, Technical Artist

As a Senior Technical Artist at Magic Leap, you’ll find inspiration in unlikely places and implement it on our platform. You have a strong visual acumen and do your best work when collaborating with user experience designers, technologists, producers, and prototypers. You have a strong interest and history of creating Real Time design experiences.

You’ve got 3-5 years experience in relevant professional and creative experiences and be excited to solve next-generation design problems beyond existing computing paradigms.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a bridge of communication between the visual design team and software engineers to ensure that designs are implemented successfully and with impeccable craft.
• Assist visual designers in validating designs on Magic Leap devices.
• Work effectively with small, interdisciplinary teams, including interaction designers, product designers, industrial designers, prototypers, researchers, engineers, and product managers.
• Work with software developers to ensure the execution of features with meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in Maya, Cinema 4D, or other 3D software
• Proficient in writing shaders, knowledge of Shader Graph or equivalent visual shader editors. Experience working with Universal Render Pipeline (URP) for Unity a plus.
• Experience in all aspects of 3D pipeline - modeling, rigging, animation, texturing.
• Understanding of asset optimization techniques
• Strong understanding of the Unity engine
• 3+ years of experience shipping software products
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Able to handle pressure and work in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.

Not required but nice to have:

• Experience scripting in C#
• Experience working in art pipelines across multiple platforms - console, mobile, VR/AR
• Understanding of UX and spatial design principles
• Able to prototype concepts in Unity and validate designs on device

Education:

• BA/BS in Graphic / Visual / Interaction Design or related subject.
