As a Senior Technical Artist at Magic Leap, you’ll find inspiration in unlikely places and implement it on our platform. You have an insatiable curiosity, a proactive mindset and a deep drive to create thoughtful, purpose-driven experiences. You have a strong visual acumen and do your best work when collaborating with user experience designers, technologists, producers, and prototypers. You have a strong interest and history of creating Real Time design experiences.
You’ve got 3-5 years experience in relevant professional and creative experiences and be excited to solve next-generation design problems beyond existing computing paradigms.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a bridge of communication between the visual design team and software engineers to ensure that designs are implemented successfully and with impeccable craft.
- Assist visual designers in validating designs on Magic Leap devices.
- Work effectively with small, interdisciplinary teams, including interaction designers, product designers, industrial designers, prototypers, researchers, engineers, and product managers.
- Work with software developers to ensure the execution of features with meticulous attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in Maya, Cinema 4D, or other 3D software
- Proficient in writing shaders, knowledge of Shader Graph or equivalent visual shader editors. Experience working with Universal Render Pipeline (URP) for Unity a plus.
- Experience in all aspects of 3D pipeline - modeling, rigging, animation, texturing.
- Understanding of asset optimization techniques
- Strong understanding of the Unity engine
- 3+ years of experience shipping software products
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Able to handle pressure and work in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Not required but nice to have:
- Experience scripting in C#
- Experience working in art pipelines across multiple platforms - console, mobile, VR/AR
- Understanding of UX and spatial design principles
- Able to prototype concepts in Unity and validate designs on device
Education:
- BA/BS in Graphic / Visual / Interaction Design or related subject.
