Blackbird Interactive is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Technical Artist to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing the art and engineering pipeline for Minecraft Legends.
You will be an integral part of a small, high-performing team, adept at rapidly generating ideas and implementing innovative solutions to challenging problems. A collaborative mindset is essential, as you will be responsible for troubleshooting, and developing tools for our modeling artists and animators.
Responsibilities
- Ensure alignment between engineering requirements and content pipeline tools
- Design and create custom asset tools for Maya to optimize artist workflows
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of real-time content development and devise compelling solutions within technical constraints
- Develop and integrate animation features and enhancements using custom development tools
- Work independently with minimal supervision, excel in a small team, take ownership of issues, and collaborate on solutions
- Serve as a liaison between the Art and Engineering departments, proactively identify potential problems, and foster cross-departmental collaboration
- Generate clear and concise documentation for tool and production pipelines
- Mentor and guide junior technical artists
Requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of content production pipeline, tools, and processes
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python and MEL)
- Knowledge of asset management best practices
- Experience with animation rigs and game animation systems
- Familiarity with modeling and game asset creation
- Experience with stylized game art and effects
- A proactive approach to creative problem solving and the ability to devise unconventional solutions
- Demonstrated experience working with Maya
Pluses
- Experience or familiarity with game engines such as Unity and Unreal
- Expertise in rigging
- Proficiency with P4V
