Unity's RT3D Artistry group is democratizing best-in-class tools to help artists become dedicated workers through the power of intuitive workflows and fast iteration. Our mission is to bring filmic content created by the Wētā Digital, Ziva, Speedtree, and similar high-end tools to real-time in a way that is scalable and approachable. Help us translate Wētā Digital’s content to the real-time domain and redefine the future of real-time content both for creators and for audiences worldwide.
We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to work with our RT3D graphics innovation teams. You’ll be helping to define and improve artist workflows for content creation as well as help drive creation of advanced showcases to prove out novel graphics technologies and create production validation for the techniques in innovative scalable 3D content. Your experience of production needs and artist workflows will help shape the next generation of content creation tools in games, AR, and interactive media. Your insights and advocacy will help empower hundreds of thousands of creators to build new experiences!

What you’ll be doing
- Push the graphical quality of Unity’s real-time graphics features to achieve the highest levels of visual excellence
- Collaborate closely with developers, designers and other technical and 3D artists to develop production proof points for 3D environments and scanned content to help validate novel graphics algorithms, product features and content creation workflows in Unity and artist tools.
- Effectively solve technical production issues.
- Communicate creative and technical issues effectively, and work closely with graphics engineers to develop effective content workflows for new features
What we’re looking for
- Has shipped visually outstanding examples in AAA games, film or other boundary-pushing projects as a technical artist
- Professional experience working with 3D PBR, photogrammetry, unified physically-based pipelines, dense environments in production settings
- Experienced with at least one DCC content creation tool (Maya, Blender, 3dsMax. Houdini, etc).
- A deep understanding of modern content creation tools and workflows: modeling, texturing, shading, rigging, animation, lighting, and 3D asset creation pipelines.
- An excellent understanding of modern physically based materials and lighting; as well as modern graphics hardware.
You might also have
- Good knowledge of Unity.
- Tool building and scripting knowledge (Python, hscript, mel, bash).
