Senior Technical Artist (Potential for remote work)

Demiurge is looking for an experienced senior technical artist to join our talented and growing team. You bridge development between artists and programmers. You have the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure art content is smoothly integrated into the game, and will jump in to fix complex pipeline issues when they arise. You are committed to improving processes that streamline art production and establishing asset budgets. As a dedicated problem solver, you are readily capable of identifying technical challenges and coming up with viable solutions. You have a passion for your craft, an artistic eye, and an ability to function independently within a dynamic work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical art support for internal and externally-led project development and drive initiatives to standardize solutions across the organization.
- Work with artists, designers, and engineers to improve content creation pipelines, asset integration and workflow efficiency.
- Design, develop and maintain tools/scripts to streamline 3D and 2D art creation processes.
- Work closely with designers, 3D art, VFX, animation and engineers to define and impose technical and budgetary standards for art assets based on the needs of the project.
- Troubleshoot issues associated with art files as they arise and provide feedback and debugging of complex assets.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in technology, PC/console hardware, software, new techniques, and help make decisions on art packages and tools usage.
- Assist with interviews and the growth of our team.
- Share your techniques and mentor folks.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years games industry employment in a technical artist role.
- In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine; asset integration, pipelines, processes, shaders and blueprints.
- Proficient in content management, asset optimization and memory budgets.
- Scripting and/or coding experience using Python, C#, C++, or similar.
- A good comprehension of real-time rendering techniques and PBR materials workflow.
- The ability to script for industry standard applications such as Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop, and Substance suite.
- A strong reel/portfolio showing executed scripting/programming examples, shader exploration, and related material.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preference To Applicants With:
- Experience working on multiple platforms.
- Experience working in Unity.
- Experience rigging and skinning character models.
- Experience working with VFX.
- At least 1+ shipped titles.
- BFA (or higher)
- A love for games, and who play them regularly.
- Outside interests!
