What You'll Do

We are growing the team, forging adventures in LEGO Fortnite, blending the engaging and welcoming Fortnite universe with the creativity and playfulness of LEGO. You will be part of a dedicated team of other world-building-focused Technical Artists working on existing and new Fortnite LEGO-based experiences. We realize the vision both artistically and functionally from concept to player's hands, ultimately building the playground that is the Lego Fortnite world. We collaborate with almost every team contributing to the game bringing together everyone’s work in the world of Lego Fortnite. We are looking for individuals who are organized, collaborative, motivated, and enthusiastic about working with landscape tools, materials, and other tech art problems to build out our LEGO based worlds. The Ideal candidates are deeply familiar with unreal editors landscape editing tools, landscape materials and foliage, and have experience with procedural generation. They should be able to combine geometry, materials, effects and UE Blueprints to create complex art.

In this role, you will

• Work with Unreal’s Landscape tools, and landscape materials to build bespoke hand made worlds, as well as work on procedural landscape tools and materials
• Create complex materials for environments, and environmental effects
• Work with gameplay developers, artists, and other team members to integrate concepts into a cohesive landscape for each world
• Continuously explore and implement innovative strategies to keep the game fresh and exciting for players
• Provide transparent communications on project status and risks to stakeholders to ensure they are properly informed of any impacts on upcoming tasks

What we're looking for

• Experience on a AAA game from concept to release
• Must have a strong reel/portfolio showing executed game tech art
• Previous experience working in a production role where you've managed cross-functional teams in creating and delivering complex projects
• Deep understanding of game development, software development process, and project management practices
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Extensive experience in landscape building and materials, preferably in a senior or lead role
• Proficiency in using Unreal's landscape tools
• A passion for gaming, with a specific interest and familiarity with Fortnite and LEGO

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
