Senior Technical Animator [Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora]

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.
As our Senior Technical Animator you'll contribute to crafting a stunning interactive world, by bringing your own thoughts and experience to the table while inspiring and mentoring your team members of Technical Animators. You'll work with industry-leading tools, like our Snowdrop game engine and collaborate with a cross-functional team of programmers, animators, character artists, and game designers.
This is a permanent position based in Malmö Sweden, with the opportunity to work partially from home according to our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply in English (our company language), and we’ll check your application asap!
What you'll do
- Closely collaborating with producers, leads, directors and other teams to push the pipeline and the vision of what animation and rigging can be
- Rigging and skinning of a variety of characters, creatures, vehicles and gear
- Researching and keeping up to date with new rigging solutions to push our pipeline and workflows to the next level
- Collaborating with a team of technical animators to develop current and new rigging tools
- Be ready for quick tweaks during production to fit the animators current needs
- Mentoring Junior to Intermediate team members by sharing knowledge
Qualifications
What you'll bring
You’re enthusiastic about playing and making games and keep yourself up to date with the latest releases and developments. You are passionate about animation, rigging, and the emerging technologies that surround them. You have an eye for quality, enjoy problem-solving, and are always seeking to improve. You would like to work in an interdisciplinary team, you are team-oriented and you enjoy giving and receiving constructive feedback to reach the team's shared goal. Your ability to see the bigger picture makes you a trusted team member and efficient communicator. Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
- Professional animation experience in rigging either from the game or movie industry
- Professional experience with setting up and/or maintaining animation and character pipelines
- Experience mentoring and providing feedback as a Senior
- Professional experience working with Maya, Mobu, Blender or other DCCs
- Experience with Game Engines (i.e. Snowdrop, Unity, Unreal Engine or similar)
