Jam City is looking for an experienced Game Designer to work on the system design for our new F2P Action RPG mobile game. The ideal candidate will understand the economic and meta-game systems and have a strong grasp of the underlying mathematical concepts. In addition, the candidate will need a deep knowledge of player behavior in mobile RPG, MOBA and strategy genres, industry trends, and data analysis methods.
Our goal is to deliver an immersive co-op PvE experience for players around the world. As a Senior System Designer, you will be an integral member to design and improve systems around the core game, including characters, weapons, progression, events, and monetization systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design systems that delight and satisfy players Social, Competitive, Expressive, and other needs.
- Analysis, tuning, and simulation of the game economy with respect to sources and sinks of in-game items and currencies.
- Implement content and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the current state of the game.
- Contribute to the design of features and systems by providing guidance on their impact on player behavior and the economy.
- Work with the Product Management, Design, and UX teams to establish and implement feature and content strategies.
- Create clear design documentation that can be evaluated and implemented by non-designers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in professional game design, with at least 3 years in Progression, Behavior, Monetization, Economy, onboarding, or Competitive systems.
- Strong econometrics skills, able to model problems into quantitative systems, and draw qualitative conclusions out of quantitative data.
- Can create and extend complex systems with attention to the player impacts and downstream effects, both as an individual, and through collaboratively working in a large design team.
- Deep experience the Social, Competitive, Engagement, Monetization and Progression systems.
- Strong analytical and formal thinking, able to break problems down in their key variables and identify the relations between them.
- History of feature ownership in high speed development with successes in managing tradeoffs between bold goals and shipping value to players.
- Can document the details of complex design structures and partnering with multidisciplinary teams members to provide those systems to players.
- Strong communication, empathy, and patience needed to work with international teams working across the globe with variable audience needs.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working on RPGs, MOBAs or other core genres.
- Love playing free-to-play games such as Genshin Impact, Seven Deadly Sins, League of Legends, etc.
- Advanced understanding of SQL and Tableau.
- Graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Business Management or similar.
