Senior Systems Designer

DIGIT is Ireland’s largest games developer, home to a talented team of over 80 people from all over the world and the creators of free-to-play MMO mobile strategy games. Our first game, Kings of the Realm, became a top grossing game in over 50 countries. Our latest project Star Trek™ Fleet Command, an immersive F2P mobile MMO, launched worldwide in November 2018 with the goal to redefine strategy gaming on mobile.

We’re on the hunt for a talented Senior Game Designer. The successful candidate will use their grasp of game systems combined with a detailed understanding of gameplay loops to create a balanced and high performing user experience. Working closely with the design, data analytics, and LiveOps teams, you will deal with complex data on a daily basis in order to communicate and implement design requirements and solutions.

You’ll be working on free-to-play MMO games with millions of users, with economies the size of small countries, multiple currencies, resources, and virtual items. You will be aware of every other system in the game and how they impact and connect to your area of ownership. Furthermore as a senior member of the team you will play an influential role in the advancement of the team and the design function as a whole.

Here's what you will be doing:

• Take ownership of game and economy systems
• Work closely with our Lead Game Designer on the creation of new game features
• Support other Game Designers with systems design and spreadsheet modelling
• Work closely with our dev teams to ensure the correct implementation of design
• Review and evolve game systems to achieve commercial goals
• Mentor Designers on the team to help them achieve their highest potential

To do this job, you will need:

• Three released titles or equivalent experience as a Game/Systems Designer
• Exceptional understanding of game systems
• Experienced in modeling of large game economies in a released game
• Highly proficient in Excel and large spreadsheet/data management
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills, in order to effectively work with Game Design and Product teams
• A strong passion for games

While not mandatory, below are nice to have:

• Strong understanding of systems driven player owned narrative

• Strong knowledge of content distribution
• Experience mentoring designers
• Excel VBA or scripting experience
• Strong knowledge of event-driven live operations in mobile games
• An avid player of F2P mobile strategy games
