Senior Software Engineer

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Cloud Gaming Engineering and Infrastructure (CGEI) division is owning the Cloud Gaming revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device, from TVs to consoles to mobile devices and beyond.

This is an opportunity to be part of a team responsible for developing new orchestration and low level software for servers and embedded hardware! We are looking for someone with a broad knowledge on Linux in addition to hardware technology including: CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, PCIe, storage and network. This role provides a balanced mix of production and R&D projects that ensures work is both fast-paced and rewarding.

This position offers a healthy mix of development and research projects, ensuring that work is both challenging and exciting. Our ideal engineer brings balanced creativity, a history of accomplishment, and a desire to face unique new challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Development of low-level userspace software.
  • Configuring and deploying container and orchestration technologies.
  • Debug and maintain Linux kernel drivers and features.
  • Troubleshooting performance and reliability issues at a global scale.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science / Software Engineering or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in C/C++ and/or Rust/Go/Python.
  • Proven experience in low-level userspace software development and container technologies.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Linux kernel and user space.
  • Git version control.
  • Understanding of computer architecture, interconnects, FPGAs and storage technology.
  • Understanding of hardware and software architectures for AI and machine learning.
  • Experience developing device drivers and software for server and embedded systems.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting high-performance systems, resilient to significant load.
  • Experience with Japanese language and culture is a plus.
