ENGINEERING - EPIC GAMES SERVICES
What We Do
Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 5. We bridge connections for licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as Epic’s own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login, parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps games utilize.
What You'll Do
The KWS Age Assurance team is looking for a Senior Developer to join the team to enable us to deliver more great features to our partners. You’ll write code which improves the verification experience for parents as well as other projects within Epic to ensure the safety of kids online. You’ll mostly be focussed on the backend code supporting our products, but you will from time to time have to dip into any part of our tech stack when changes are necessary.
In this role, you will
- Be part of the Age Assurance team, completing tickets, giving sprint demos, etc. and take the lead role in cross-team projects
- Work on any part of the stack to deliver a feature but be excellent at backend development
- Own the changes you make through development to production, whilst considering security, reliability and maintainability in the code you write
- Undertake code reviews collaboratively and constructively and mentor and help grow other members of the team
- Work with other teams across Epic
- Work with product managers, designers and others across the KWS team to get input into your work and provide input to their work
- Help scale the services to match the load required from some of the world's biggest games
What we're looking for
- Great programming skills - we use typescript mostly but transferable experience is welcome
- Experience in cloud-based applications (preferably AWS)
- Experience working with databases and queues which include sensitive data
- Keenness to learn and share learnings with other team members
- Enthusiasm for kids’ safety online
