Senior Software Engineer - Tech Foundations, Gameplay Team

Riot Sydney is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Sydney-based League of Legends Engine Gameplay Team.

Riot Engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas and also value the chance to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll work with both our technology, creating creative solutions to overcome high-volume obstacles and to provide player value.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Gameplay Team, you’ll report to the team’s Engineering Manager based in Sydney. You will build new engine capabilities, and maintain existing engine capabilities, that enable game engineers and content creators to build player-facing gameplay experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Slice, estimate, write and review reliable, maintainable code, and author architectural design documents
• Optimize the performance and develop low-level engine features
• Keep the engine compatible with target platforms
• Work with feature teams to help them create the best possible experiences for players

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of game engine or similar development experience
• Proficiency coding in C++
• Familiarity with core networking fundamentals
• Experience optimizing the performance of code

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with real-time client/server application development
• Experience with various game engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal Engine)
• Experience working on multiple game development pipelines (animation, VFX, environment)
