Release Manager II, Release & Live

As a Release Manager at Riot you will be joining one of our teams responsible for updating and deploying our games across the globe. Release Managers are responsible for improving the product delivery pipeline with a continuous delivery mindset using both process and technology at your disposal. You understand what fuels games as a live service and have a passion to improve the experience for internal developers getting content out the door, and more importantly, the players. You’re a communication expert able to craft efficient and clear messages to any size group or situation. You’ll wrangle process and organize teams to keep momentum building, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement across the organization.

As a Release Manager II, you'll be joining the team responsible for updating and deploying our game to our players everywhere. You will be involved with improving our product delivery pipeline with a continuous delivery mindset, using both process and technology at your disposal. You understand what fuels games as a live service and have a passion to improve the experience for internal developers getting content out the door, and more importantly, the players. You are a communication authority able to craft efficient and clear messages to any size group or situation. You will wrangle process and organize teams to keep momentum building, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities
- You will demonstrate your strong sense of game knowledge to lead the release and deployment process, managing the pipeline to ensure that we are delivering the best global player experience.
- You will bridge the gap between development and operations by facilitating discussions and making decisions that impact the live service and our players.
- You will engage with product teams to review their product release protocols and provide consultation on how we can prevent and mitigate player pain.
- You will challenge the impossible as you improve upon our continuous deployment process. Analyzing data and trends, you will work with teams to accomplish major goals on both strategic and tactical levels.
- You will evangelize and spread the release culture and continuous improvement mindset throughout the entire organization.
- You will work with all necessary parties across Riot and external partners to establish best practices and SLAs for the live operation of our game.
Required Experience:
- Previous release management experience in software development for at least 1 year
- Technical experience with version control (P4V, GIT, etc)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven success driving live service issues to resolution
- Experience leveraging issue tracking software such as JIRA
Preferred Experience:
- Has done release management in games for at least 2 years
- Has experience in mobile game development
- Previous experience working in a technical QA or a Live Game Production role

Expectations in role:
- Responsible for creating and executing the release runbooks for the bi-weekly patches
- Coordinate with publishing to prepare, accounts, builds and test plans for Account management to support future one-off playtest (i.e., influencer previews)
- Assist release in managing the redeploy pipeline by staying on top of the general timing and status of pending fixes
- Hold teams accountable to tracking RCA’s, both live services and release, and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
- Assist in report creation for monthly live and release health updates based on available data
- Manage first-party certification and submission process
