We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to work with our gameplay team on player and combat related features. COVID-19 Hiring Update:
We've transitioned to a work-from-home model, and we're continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person's circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
We need help with:
- Designing and implementing multiplayer combat & player mechanics
- Collaborating with QA, design, art, production, and other engineers to solve some of our most complex problems
- Participating in the ongoing effort to improve our foundational technology, especially relating to responsiveness, network robustness, and player controls, with the goal of achieving a best-in-class PvE and PvP player experience
- Coordinating with embedded and external teams, creating relationships and assisting with shared initiatives that advance the development of the game
- Championing Blizzard’s core values
What you are good at
- Writing fluent C++ code with an advanced knowledge of both historical patterns and modern language features.
- Designing and authoring systems suitable to a large world, high player counts and persistent gameplay
- Networking experience, including synchronization and prediction of game mechanics
- Polishing feature presentation using animation, VFX and SFX
- Excellent spoken and written communications skills
- Working in a collaborative environment
- Breaking down complex tasks
- Playing and making a variety of video game genres and titles
Extra awesome points for
- Engine development experience
- Familiar with network security and anti-cheat considerations
- Prior experience with weapon or combat systems development
- Experience with performance analysis and code optimization
