Gameplay Engineer - EverQuest II

The EverQuest II® team is currently looking for a Gameplay Engineer to work with a team of highly motivated and talented programmers, artists, and designers on the multi-award-winning EverQuest II® MMO. A strong candidate will be comfortable with researching complex and / or undocumented systems and be able to produce clear and relevant documentation and also propose suggestions for improving upon or working within those systems.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION
- Architect and implement solutions for large scale game systems
- Work collaboratively with designers to expand existing and build new gameplay systems
- Coordinate with other engineers, designers, and artists to ensure smooth integration of related systems
- Positive, can-do attitude and forward-thinking solution-finder
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Passion for games and game development
- Three or more years programming experience in C/C++
- Two or more years of professional programming experience
- Talent with regularly shifting gears to accommodate emergency issues
- Ability to communicate (both in written and verbal methods) complex processes in a clear manner
- Knack for picking up unfamiliar systems quickly and getting to the core of an issue
- Experience working on client/server products
- Knowledge of best software practices and the ability to work efficiently and independently
- Solid understanding of object oriented software engineering principles and methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with using Linux
Pluses
- Experience playing EverQuest II®
- Previous professional MMO game development experience
- Experience with Perl or other scripting languages
- Exposure to analytics development from a implementation standpoint
- A record of process (technical and / or non-technical) optimization
- B.S. in computer science
