Software Engineer, Engineering Velocity

Your Mission
The
mission of the Engineering Velocity team is to enable other development teams to focus on delivering the highest possible value to their customers. We do this by removing productivity roadblocks and providing the tools and expertise for achieving high velocity iteration workflows.
Amongst other things, we offer our customers
a continuous integration platform that is used for rapidly and confidently building, testing and delivering anything from back-end services to new and innovative games on all major OSes, mobile platforms and consoles on a 24/7 basis.
We provide best practice guides and consultancy for day-to-day workflows, environment configuration and continuous integration to address every customer’s need. We frequently interview and pair with our customers to identify new potential workflow optimisations and keep abreast of emerging issues within their specific problems spaces.
Areas of impact
- You’ll continuously act as a force-multiplier for our engineering population.
- You’ll investigate new avenues to accelerate game development in collaboration with Improbable’s internal game studios and partners.
- You’ll operate, maintain and improve our company wide CI platform and associated tooling providing build capabilities for all major OSes, mobile platforms and consoles.
- You’ll improve our suite of products supporting the day-to-day developer experience.

- You’re customer focussed and enjoy solving problems to help teams succeed.
- Coding in a strongly typed language such as Go, Rust, C / C++ or Java.
- You are motivated by a desire to learn and to share your knowledge with others and shine in an environment of shared learning.
- Continuous Integration and Delivery excite you, and you strive to avoid Continuous Irritation and Continuous Disappointment!
- You’re familiar with operating in production, inside cloud-native infrastructure using one or more large scale cloud platforms.
- You develop quality solutions and own them for their full lifecycle. You understand the value of optimising for the longer term while still being tactically pragmatic.
- You’ve developed command-line tools that improve developer productivity.
- Using tools like Ansible to configure machines in a repeatable manner and avoid surprise breakages.
- Developing, running and supporting applications on a container orchestration system such as Kubernetes.
- Working in largely self organising distributed agile teams.
