Roblox is expanding the metaverse to include Educational experiences, and we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build and scale the Education platform! The Education team is building the next chapter of teaching and learning on Roblox, and transforming classroom instruction through collaborative learning experiences. You will report into the App Expansion team and will focus on supporting development of the mission-driven, highly impactful Education platform. You will build out the product that enables teachers and students to use immersive and engaging educational experiences in the classroom, which will transform the future educational software and tools. You'll work alongside a collaborative group of Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to make Roblox's Education platform a successful tool that both teachers and students love to use in the classroom.

You'll report to an Engineering Manager on the Education team. This job is a hybrid role located in San Mateo, California. #LI-Hybrid
You Are:
- Passionate: About advancing education for the next generation, and transforming the way students learn through collaborative, dynamic learning environments.
- Front-End Expert: You are an expert in modern front-end development, comfortable with technologies such as React, Redux, GraphQL, Storybook, Jest, Cypress, accessibility. You also have a good understanding of backend technologies, API design patterns, microservices, containers.
- User Oriented: You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers before architecting a solution.
- Versatile: You have mastered several languages and technologies already
- Creative: You take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems and driving new tools/functionality for our developers
- Team-oriented: You have a personality that invigorates the team around you and you are used to leading technical teams in any situation.
- Proactive: You can speak in detail about problems that you identified and solutions that you drove to launch.
You Will:
- Develop/Build Roblox Education's web application from the ground up.
- Build features that support teacher's use of Roblox in the classroom, like classroom management tools and registration flows.
- Become an expert on our technology stack, and build the Education platform in alignment with existing architecture and principles.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to define the Education platform's infrastructure
- Collaborate with different teams to improve existing and develop new functionality, pipelines, and workflow.
- Be guided by our vision to put the Roblox community first and represent us through experience.
You Have:
- 5+ years experience in full stack software development.
- 5+ years delivering complex code with JavaScript and React.
- Strong attentiveness to product UI/UX, and a passion to make sure the things you create look and feel great.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$218,540 — $283,780 USD
