Senior Software Engineer, Discovery

(This role is fully remote for candidates located in British Columbia.)

Our Discovery team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the tools and systems which tell players about the exciting things happening in Rec Room that matter to them. Rec Room is a vibrant world where friends, content, and communities are always active.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join an exciting new effort at Rec Room. The Discovery Team is a new team in our Social organization focusing on improving user engagement by connecting users with personalized content.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Work autonomously and iteratively to help creators build fanbases and connect players with content and people that delight them
• Design, build, and maintain features of player communication, social system, content promotion, and content discovery systems using C# and various backend technologies.
• Use metrics to track feature performance and inform design decisions
• Collaborate across teams and disciplines to build great new technology for our players

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING:

• 5+ years of building and shipping production-ready code
• Experience writing production distributed systems or cloud services
• Excellent cross-discipline communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous, and ambiguous environment
• A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

• Professional experience with personalization or machine learning
• Experience with Game Development and Game Engines (preferably Unity)
• Knowledge of synchronization techniques in stateless distributed systems, and experience building RESTful API backend services
• Passion for game design, specifically game feel and high-quality player feedback
• Experience working on a live online service
