Senior Software Developer

The opportunity

The Unity Hub is the curtain-raiser for the Unity editor, services, and resources, helping millions of game and real-time 3d developers make outstanding and innovative things. Built in Electron, using Typescript and React, the Hub helps users find, download, and handle Unity installations and projects, as well as connecting and extending a wide range of Unity services to the user.

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to orchestrate development initiatives bringing the Unity Hub experience to the Cloud and connecting the Hub to existing Unity web applications. Working closely with local and distributed team members, as well as with Unity teams globally, you will drive evolution of the Hub experience to accompany users seamlessly between desktop and web.

What you’ll be doing

• Driving the initial technical design of a cloud architecture to support Unity Hub users on the web, including forging technical and professional links with existing cloud-based Unity tools
• Working in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering Management, and the Development teams to build a product that provides a phenomenal user experience
• Acting as the technical core as we grow the product and team towards the cloud
• Collaborate with internal teams to expand the Hub’s existing GraphQL backend

What we’re looking for

• A highly versatile individual, able to jump into existing Fullstack and GraphQL code, understand current architectural strengths and weaknesses, and step back in order to contribute to building a long-term technical roadmap for the web
• Successful track record of building and designing backend architecture for cloud-based applications
• Sufficient knowledge of cloud infra to present and weigh numerous strategic options for the future of the Unity Hub
• Experience mentoring engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective

• Experience moving a desktop application to a cloud/hybrid solution
• Electron, Typescript and/or C# development experience
• MDM (Mobile Device Management) experience
