Senior Software Developer - Lead

Sago Mini is looking for a Senior Software Developer to be the technical lead on our Sago Mini Box product team. Launched in Feb 2020, Sago Mini Box is a monthly subscription box packed with fun make-and-play activities for kids. As our tech lead you will join a cross-functional team focused on building an amazing ecommerce experience for our customers. This role is suitable for a senior candidate who has strong Ruby on Rails experience and who also enjoys working in a fast paced product team.

Requirements:

• 8+ years building, deploying, and maintaining web applications and services.
• Extensive experience building web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with TypeScript/Javascript/Node.js or an interest in mastering this stack.
• Able to break down complicated tasks into distinct solvable pieces, prioritize what is important, iterate quickly, and write clear and reusable code.
• Prior experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Considerable experience with relational (PostgreSQL) non-relational (MongoDB) databases.
• Able to produce design-accurate and responsive frontend solutions using basic tools (eg: native
• Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and Handlebars) without having to rely on frontend frameworks (eg: React, and Angular).
• Very comfortable putting on the DevOps hat when needed and have past experience working with various AWS services, Ubuntu, and automation tools like Ansible. You regularly show your colleague why the terminal isn’t scary :)
• Thrive working in an agile environment and enjoy juggling multiple projects at once.
• Acted as a lead developer on multiple projects.

Also important:

• A degree in computer science/computer engineering/web development or a resume full of practical experience.
• Eager to learn new things, solve hard problems, and hustle.
• An eye for visual design and the ability to work collaboratively with designers and artists.
• Able to communicate technical concepts to non-tech team members.
• Bonus points for prior experience with SaaS, subscription services, Shopify, Subscription Billing Management Platforms, and the Apple / GooglePlay / Kindle app stores.
