Senior Software Developer, Data Infrastructure

The opportunity

Our Data Platform team at Unity enables teams across the Unity department to bring to bear the terabytes of data our company ingests, processes, and builds infrastructure around to do their best work. From simulations to asset store recommendations to in-editor personalization, we build the foundation that allows other teams at Unity to build outstanding services and tools for Unity users.

Unity is looking for an outstanding Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and bring their passion for infrastructure to build special data infrastructure products. You will partner closely with other engineers, product specialists, and data professionals to research, prototype and develop work class applications, services, and pipelines around our more than 60 billion daily data events!

What you’ll be doing

• Help with the design, implementation and operations of extraordinary large-scale data platform and machine learning infrastructure systems
• Define comprehensive thinking for infrastructure automation and monitoring including proactive alerting and issue resolution, scaling and performance management
• On-call experience and debugging of sophisticated infrastructure issues, identifying root cause and resolving with utmost vitality for continuous improvement
• Collaborate cross-functionally to find opportunities across Unity for data-driven solutions and champion development standard methodologies that ensure quality and velocity with the team
• Partner with our teams across development and site reliability engineering to improve our service applications, infrastructure, and deployment through our shared CI/CD pipeline

What we’re looking for

• BS/BS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent infrastructure and back-end engineering experience with experience building robust distributed systems
• Expertise in Scala, Python, Go or Java
• Extensive experience building and supervising container-based microservices using Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
• Extensive experience with a major cloud service provider such as GCP, AWS
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work multi-functionally with global teams.

You might also have

• Experience with machine learning distributed systems
• Experience with data engineering technologies like Cassandra, BigQuery, Kafka, SparkSQL, Flume
• Experience with large scale data systems and related technologies such as including Terraform, Big Query, AWS Athena
