Sr. Site Reliability Engineer

This is a Site Reliability Engineer position in the Data Platform Engineering group, responsible for development of Sony PlayStation Network’s Data Platform, and Analytics solutions. We are looking for Site reliability engineers with strong background in AWS, software development, and automation skills to build and maintain best-in-class scalable, highly available data warehouse solutions to enable our fast-growing business through data and insights.
Data Platform is critical and core component in Sony Play Station Network and supports dramatic customer growth on the global, fast growing Sony Network Entertainment customer base, world class PlayStation consoles, hand-held devices, PlayStation TV, and network entertainment services such as PlayStation Now and PlayStation Vue
The individual's primary responsibilities include:
- Develop automation for manual operational activities
- Develop and enhance monitoring capabilities (metric/event collection, visualization, and alerting) for evolving use cases
Required Skills:
- Extensive experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Chef
- Extensive development experience – Python and shell scripting are must. Go/Java is a plus
- Experience with public cloud services and deployments is a must, preferably AWS
- Experience with continuous Integration, continuous delivery/deployment tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, Bamboo, or similar
- Strong experience with monitoring and logging frameworks and building KPI driven dashboard and alerting.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle. Experience integrating Open Source tools
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in an enterprise, distributed-services ecosystem
- Experienced user of one or more source code management tools, preferably Git
- Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining public cloud infrastructure for micro services
- Should have experience in developing tools for system configuration, deployment, and monitoring
- Strong belief in driving operational excellence with owning efficiency and automation at the core of operations

- Customer and peer relationship focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills

- OBSESSIVE desire to automate and improve everything including process improvements, standardizing tools and technologies!
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with others at all levels; effective at working with geographically remote and culturally diverse teams.
- Strong documentation skills for updating runbooks, tools and documentation to help prepare oncall teams for future incidents
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and solutions preferred (i.e. Snowflake)
- Experience with data engineering preferred
