The Nitty Gritty:
Big Viking Games is looking for a Senior Server Systems Administrator to join the team and provide direct support to our game production teams and daily infrastructure needs. Our ideal candidate is ready and excited to work in a fast-paced environment, and will be motivated and passionate about helping the company-wide productivity.

The Duties:

· Manage Server platform components for physical and virtual environments – ensuring environments are resilient, secure, and performant.

· Proactively manage server resources using performance monitors, profilers, custom scripts and third party tools.

· Responsible for production, test and development infrastructure.

· Work closely with Developer and QA teams to design, implement and support applications for on-premise and cloud implementations.

· Develop and update documentation, including architecture diagrams and operating procedures.

· Reporting on Health, Performance, Availability and Capacity utilization.

· Develop, implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategy for all systems.

· Troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues relating to servers and game applications.

· Work closely with IT staff and personnel.

· Assist with outages, escalations, and other unexpected issues that may arise.

· Participate in a rotating on-call schedule

· Other tasks as required.

This position is available at our either our London, ON or Toronto, ON studio

· 70 Peter Street, (Downtown) Toronto ON

· 285 King St, (Downtown) London ON

The Must Haves:

· University Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.

· Fundamental and very strong understanding of server management using Linux, Windows, NGINX, MySQL, TCP/IP networking and storage.

· Experience implementing and managing applications within cloud platforms.

· Experience and ability to set up automated monitoring and alerting systems.

· Active listening and critical thinking skills.

· Ability to work in a very fast paced environment and work under pressure.

· Ability to communicate well and effectively with others, across multiple teams.

· Scripting ability with Bash and Python.

· Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technology problems.

· Positive team-oriented attitude.

· Minimum five (5) years’ experience in network administration and support of Linux servers.

The Nice to Haves:

· Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins.

· Google Cloud and AWS experience

· Experience with a Deployment Management Tool such as Chef or Ansible.
