Responsibilities
Under the Lead Technical Artist responsibility, and in close collaboration with the Technical and Art Directors, the senior rendering technical artist acts as a bridge between the content and programming teams to make sure the game is in the best possible shape. The responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the programming team and content team in the implementation of tools and graphic features related to art/content creation.
- Create content to validate new rendering features in development.
- Test new tools/render features before deployment into production.
- Contribute to ensuring that feature/tool interfaces are user-friendly & efficient.
- Suggest improvements and find solutions for tools used on the project.
- Collaborate with technical teams to diagnose and resolve in-game problems.
- Monitor & help drive framerate and memory optimization of the game.
- Regularly communicate technical constraints and their reasons to the content teams.
- Offer technical support to the Content team in day-by-day production issues. (Game, Tools,…)
- Create and maintain documentation for tools, conventions and procedures.
- Share with the content teams best-practices and new tools.
- Create, organize, and lead training sessions so that all members of the content team can properly use the tools and methods.
- Remain informed of new technical and technological developments
- Investigate new techniques, assist in prototyping and help other developers with technical roadblocks.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience as a technical artist on AAA productions
- Strong artistic background and attention to details from both technical and artistic perspectives
- Relevant technical experience in performance, optimization and methodology
- Basic knowledge of real-time rendering challenges and techniques
- Problem-solving skills and strong organizational skills
- A great ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges
- Fast and willing learner. Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Ability to transmit knowledge effectively and to train other team members
- Great interpersonal communication skills, with a positive and constructive attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical parties
