Senior Public Relations Specialist
San Mateo, CA
The Sr. Public Relations Specialist will support the overall function of product publicity and be accountable for supporting daily activities within the department that are targeted at driving positive awareness of PlayStation’s exclusive games. This position will play a key role in media and influencer relations, software reviews, events, and other PR programs.
Responsibilities:
- Development and execution of PR plans and campaigns for PlayStation’s exclusive games across all platforms with a primary focus on media relations.
- Work closely with studio teams and marketing leaders to craft the messaging and execute media activities with a high level of success.
- Collaborate with key partners across the organization to support first-party software PR efforts, including news, reviews, features, and trend stories.
- Partner with other members of SIE, including hardware, corporate communications, and social media teams, to contribute to broader communications efforts, including events, tours, product briefings, and other touch points with media/influencers.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with consumer, gaming enthusiast, technology, business press, and other influencers, while driving proactive/reactive efforts.
- Develop written materials, including fact sheets, Q&As, press releases, media alerts, and backgrounders, all of which demonstrate a deep understanding of PlayStation’s first-party software.
- Coordinate media tours/events in support of first party line-up and hardware efforts.
- Pitch, facilitate/coordinate media briefings with SIE’s Worldwide Studios development teams.
- Provide post mortem analysis of PR activities as needed; oversee coverage tracking/reporting and merchandise to key partners.
- Manage media list updates including changes as well as positioning and activity.
- Participate in creative brainstorming activities, and provide active feedback and creative ideas.
- Support development of PowerPoint presentations and speech points as necessary.
- Complete projects with minimal supervision and direction and be able to manage up to PR Manager/supervisor, as well as keep the entire team up-to-date on the various programs specialist is working on.
Qualifications:
- The desired candidate will possess at least 3-5 years of public relations experience, ideally working with consumer-facing brands/products.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven relationship-building skills needed to work with various media outlets across consumer, gaming enthusiast, technology and business press
- Experience working for or with an external PR Agency.
- Strong background in media relations, public relations writing, plan execution, coordination of tours/events and proven interaction with partners, media and vendors
- Experience pitching coordinating and monitoring media interviews.
- Interest in gaming, entertainment or sports industries.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
