Senior Public Relations Specialist
San Mateo, CA
SIE Communications is looking for a Senior Public Relations Specialist to join the Global Software Communications team located out of our headquarters in San Mateo, CA. As a key contributor to the software publicity team, you will support PR strategy and execution for PlayStation’s exclusive games, helping to tell impactful stories across gaming and entertainment media for one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.
The Sr. Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for supporting the department’s daily activities while also running local media and influencer relations, product launches, and events. In addition to supporting our exclusive games for PlayStation platforms, this individual will also provide PR support as our PlayStation catalog expands to PC. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a passion for media and influencer relations who is diligent and efficient at leading multiple projects simultaneously. We’re looking for a collaborative teammate who has a strong pulse on the media landscape and trends to bring fresh ideas to our growing team!
Responsibilities:
- Support and implement global PR strategy for PlayStation’s exclusive games across all platforms, with a strong focus on measurable media return on investment.
- Build and maintain relationships with credible media and influencers, securing compelling coverage with a particular focus on mainstream media.
- Work with PlayStation Studios, development partners, and marketing to define game messaging and implement media tactics with a high level of success.
- Develop written materials to support game launches, including blog posts, press releases, fact sheets, messaging/Q&As, briefing backgrounders, etc.
- Run coverage reporting and asset distribution.
- Support a growing catalog of PC titles with tailored campaign strategies and global tactics, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to shape a positive narrative around our PC strategy.
- Cultivate existing and new relationships with the PC editorial community to drive strong coverage for our PC titles.
- Complete projects with minimal direction, run up to supervisor and department leadership, and keep the distributed team up-to-date on the various programs.
- Partner with the broader SIE Communications team, including platforms, services, corporate, and social media to contribute to broader brand narratives and initiatives for both external and internal audiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of public relations experience, ideally working with consumer-facing brands or products.
- Experience working for or with an external PR agency is preferred; in-house PR experience is a plus.
- Strong media relations experience with various outlets across consumer, gaming enthusiast, technology, and business press.
- Skilled in handling multiple projects with the ability to work effectively across a large distributed team environment.
- Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Interest in gaming, entertainment, or sports industries; prior experience in the PC gaming space is a bonus.
