Senior Product Manager

As a Senior Product Manager on the Kongregate team, your mission is to be an expert on industry trends for idle and casual games, such as AdVenture Capitalist, Adventure Communist, Idle Miner Tycoon, Trailer Park Boys and Idle Frontier. You will use your expertise to support our first party game developments, help the internal and external teams with product strategy and roadmap . This result is achieved through strong partner relationships, deep understanding of idle game mechanics and data analysis to understand a game’s performance, its viability as a business, and its ability to scale. The role requires continuous interaction with the internal team, regular coordination with work-for-hire development studios, and independent decision making with regular supervisor oversight.
You will monitor the health of Kongregate’s portfolio of games and work collaboratively with the rest of the PM team to help improve all of our games. You will conduct market research on competitor games and apply your understanding of the marketplace and its direction to the ongoing production and operation of our games.
You will be joining as the first Product Manager in Kongregate's San Francisco 1st party team. In addition, you will interact with teams in Portland, San Diego, Chicago and elsewhere as they work to develop and implement cross-platform initiatives that improve player quality of life across all of Kongregate's products. As the first Product Manager on the team, you will be the voice of business and analytics in the development of several features expected to drive millions of dollars in annual revenue. Our ideal candidate is someone excited about this component of the job and who excels at proactive communication and collaboration.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work on several free-to-play mobile games, initially focused on all aspects of the idle genre.
- Coordinate with work-for-hire game development studios.
- Own the performance, feature roadmap, and long-term health of your games (improvement/decline of KPIs) and their performance against targets.
- Monitor the health of your games. The PM should know and flag when and why various KPIs and player behaviors change (e.g. revenue spike, retention drop, etc.) and have a perspective on what we should do about it.
- Identify and prioritize KPIs that should be improved by features and updates.
- Evaluate and drive product vision and business rationale for features and updates.
- Evaluate business impact of released features, events, content and updates on live games by conducting analysis in SQL, Excel, and elsewhere.
- Document best practices of our games and conduct market research on competitor games. Synthesize those pieces of information to create business strategy documents across a wide range of topics that developers can use to improve their games.
- Project out financial performance for both live games and potential new games using available data and your game design sensibilities to create different scenarios of likely outcomes.

Basic and Preferred Qualifications (Education and/or experience)
- Analytical or quantitative college degree, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in the mobile games industry as a product manager, data analyst, game designer, or producer.
- 4+ years of quantitative analysis or experience using data to drive decision-making.
- Experience conducting qualitative/design analysis of free-to-play games.
Minimum Qualifications, Job Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of SQL
- Proficient understanding of statistics
- Expert understanding of the design and product principles of free-to-play mobile games.
- Expert written, verbal, and visual communication skills around communicating the content of your ideas and their contextual value to a wide variety of audiences
- A deep and abiding love of games and creating fun, engaging experiences
- Curious, ambitious, and strongly internally motivated.
