Games Design & ProductionJob Description:
The Lab is an independent business unit currently integrated in Candy Crush Saga. We’re a multi- disciplinary team of about 60 people. Our mindset and ways of working can be summarised in the following statements:
- We fall in love with the problem, not the solution
- We are player- centric and lean, and we prioritize outcome over output
- We think big but start small
- We’re organized around multi- disciplinary and empowered product teams
To accomplish our vision and mission, we’re looking for our first Product Manager (PM) that will help us establish the practice and properly define the role. The successful candidate will be able to work well cross functionally with Production, UX Design, Game Design, Data Science, Research, Engineering and Marketing teams to build world class products identifying opportunities for innovation, increased efficiencies, and outsized impact.
The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for unlocking growth opportunities at every stage of the user journey through product experiments, such as testing different onboarding experiences, product launch campaigns or specific in- game events.
Additionally, there is the need to develop a strong product organisation by supporting and mentoring other team members that are willing to grow as PMs and/or want to learn more about product management.
As the PM of one of the Lab you will...
- Establish and develop a shared vision for the lab across the organisation by building a consensus on main priorities and opportunities.
- Build, drive and develop the product strategy and lab roadmap working closely with Engineering and other cross- functional colleagues such as Producers, UX Design, Game Design, Data Science, UX Research, Engineering, Marketing, etc.
- Incorporate player research, data and market analysis to implement a cohesive experimentation strategy that drives impact for the whole organization and for our players.
- Define, measure and improve key metrics that inform the success of our products and features.
- Build a great team environment, coordinating and aligning your “cross- functional” colleagues as well as stakeholders around the vision.
- Create synergies and collaboration initiatives with Marketing and Platform Partnerships.
As the first PM of the Lab you will...
- Contribute to make the change in The Lab towards a product- led business unit.
- Evangelize outside of The Lab about the characteristics and benefits of product- led organisations.
- Share your expertise and passion as a Product Manager.
- Mentor other team members that are willing to grow as PMs and/or want to learn more about product management.
- As an avid reader, you know the best books, tools and resources to support our more junior PMs in their career growth.
Skills to Create Thrills
To excel in this role we’re looking for someone with the following skills:
- 4+ years of product management experience, preferably from top companies in gaming (console, PC, or mobile); entertainment; technology; or consumer products.
- Capable of conveying a product vision to a range of different audiences.
- Experienced in operation of live games or products and data- driven environments.
- Skeptical, curious, and analytical. In a word: scientific.
- A natural mentor to other junior PMs.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills and a history of supporting data informed decisions.
- Reliable scheduling/time management skills.
- Proactive attitude, you’re known by your colleagues as an intrapreneur.
- Working in a humble and open manner, with a willingness to both teach and learn from your colleagues.
- Staying up to date with industry techniques, standards and workflows, with awareness of current & upcoming game titles & technology.
- You’re curious to answer questions such as: What makes a casual mobile game work? Why do people like it? How do games encourage players to stick around and want to spend money? What are the core game loops?
We’re open for candidates with experience in any industry. However, knowledge of casual mobile gaming is for sure a plus.
