Why Naughty Dog?
For nearly 40 years, Naughty Dog has been crafting best-selling, critically acclaimed games that constantly push the boundaries of narrative, gameplay, and technology. We’ve been busy at the Kennel, most recently releasing The Last of Us Part I, a complete and faithful remake of the original game, rebuilt from the ground up and fully optimized for the PlayStation 5 and PC. As a part of the Naughty Dog legacy, you’ll be continuing the development of extraordinary and enduring experiences for a broad, global range of audiences.
Naughty Dog games have long been lauded for their evocative, character-driven stories and attention to detail. We are committed to innovation within our games and as such have curated some of the top creative and technically innovative minds in the industry. We welcome a diverse pool of candidates and believe that a broad range of cultural and life experiences contribute to the overall well-being and success of the studio and the titles we craft together.
Naughty Dog is growing our production team! We need a Senior Producer to elevate our team’s capabilities. In this role you’ll deliver significant impact to both the dev team and production team, leveling up the skills we apply to the production of our games and the structures we work within.
On the game team side, you will partner with leads and directors to understand their needs and develop processes to improve communication, scheduling, and overall quality of life; all while developing the kind of ground-breaking video games we're famous for. Your experience will also guide the Production Team’s cultural growth and production skills.
Our ideal candidate is someone with a deep understanding of the complexities of game development and a track record of building processes to help the team achieve their highest potential. You will bring your organizational skills, understanding of communication pipelines, leadership experience, and passion for making games - and above all, your empathy to inspire the team and rally support for our shared vision!
Who we’re looking for:
- Define the processes we use to support a cross-departmental development pipeline (for example, Levels, Cinematics, or Systems), and guide production team members in providing effective support
- Drive the development and refinement of our shared production processes to increase studio efficiency and quality
- Build and maintain project plans, schedules, and roadmaps. Ensure the team is on track with their goals
- Communicate frequently and effectively with key collaborators on project status, risks, and opportunities
- Create structures to ensure cross-department visibility is clear and dependencies are properly tracked. Ensure the impact of scope changes is understood, and the ramifications are clearly communicated
- Serve as a mentor and provide leadership, information, and resources to team members. Manage one or more employees
- Improve the processes used by the production team to ensure our own effectiveness and workload balance
- Support studio-level initiatives around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, while also growing allyship education and standards within the team as a whole
- Work with the Tools team to advance the development of our production-related software
- Maintain a constant awareness of game status through regular play sessions. Evaluate project scope and make recommendations to the Creative Director, Game Director, and studio leadership
What skills you will use:
- Solid understanding of video game development, software development processes, and project management practices
- Proven experience in a production role where you've supported cross-functional teams in the creation and delivery of sophisticated projects
- Expertise in common Production methodologies and software
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, on both a personal and team level
- Self-starter. Approach challenges creatively and methodically, seeing them through to final resolution
Bonus Skills:
- Experience supporting large development teams on AAA games or Games-as-a-Service
