Wordscapes is one of the most popular mobile games ever made. It has an audience of over 4 million daily active users. We are looking for talented, curious engineers to join our product team. Wordscapes is built on a custom game engine that allows for a lot of flexibility but also means we fully own every technical decision we make. Responsibilities
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, artists, producers and QA
- Work with engineers and the team to manage tasks and schedules
- Contribute to the development and growth of other engineers
- Write clean, reusable code in a variety of languages to support our custom Wordscapes game engine, adding features, fixing bugs, and stabilizing performance
- Author tools to assist in development of new features, including ones utilized by engineering, design, art, and QA
- Proactively identify areas of improvement for our tech stack and make sure we’re in compliance with iOS and Android best practices
- Participate in an agile environment, keeping the team updated with your progress
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience developing mobile apps on iOS, Android, or preferably both
- Rock solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and architecture
- Understanding of at least two of the following: Java, Objective-C, C++, and JavaScript
- Experience integrating 3rd-party SDKs into mobile apps (ad networks, analytics packages, etc)Interest in learning about all levels of a game engine stack - compilers, graphics APIs, networking, etc.
Desired Qualities:
- Experience building games in Unity, Cocos2DX, or other common game engines
- Experience with OpenGL or Metal
- Experience debugging mobile apps, including use of network proxying tools
- Basic knowledge of Python
- Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform
