That’s No Moon is an independent AAA game development studio established in 2021 by veterans of some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed creative teams in the world, including Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Santa Monica Studio, Bungie, PlayStation, and more. A remote-friendly studio with a central office and performance capture stage located in Los Angeles, That’s No Moon is creating the next generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences built upon a culture of creativity, collaboration, responsible production practices, and individual empowerment. We are assembling a diverse team of passionate developers of a wide range of experience levels and backgrounds to help shape the future of our studio and projects.
We are looking for a skilled and well-rounded technical artist with a passion for game-making, knack for problem-solving, and interest in process and workflow efficiency, to join our team as the critical bridge between technology and art. Tech artists will collaborate with programmers, designers and artists of various disciplines and help build/support the pipelines to ensure successful asset/content deliveries from source art to final runtime.
Responsibilities:
- Build/Support content creation pipelines and facilitate asset delivery through all phases of production (from source assets to in-engine)
- Act as power user and engineering liaison of studio pipeline tools to ensure proper usage/adoption, and features are meeting artists’ needs
- Troubleshoot various content pipeline related issues encountered by users
- Design/create/maintain various DCC & UE Editor tools
- Collaborate with artists, TDs, and engineers to design/implement tools and pipeline improvements that directly meet production needs
- Work closely with Tools Engineering and IT to deploy batch automation on processing farm
- Write clear, maintainable code within the structure of studio code library
- Create/Maintain tools usage documentation
- Help identify game performance issues and bottlenecks and assist with art content optimization
Requirements & Skills:
- (Required) 5+ years of professional experience as a pipeline TD, tools scripter, or tech artist in game or film production
- (Required) Maya Expertise both as power-user and scripter
- (Required) Strong Python experience in the areas of tools and UI (i.e., PyQt) and Maya Scripting
- (Preferred) Familiarity working with UE4, Unity, or similar game engine
- (Preferred) Knowledge/familiarity of various CG art disciplines (ex: modeling, materials, animation, lighting, vfx, etc) and how they are interconnected
- (Preferred) Runtime rendering profile and optimization experience
- (Bonus) Experience with writing shaders
- (Bonus) Experience working with Mocap data
- (Bonus) Motion Builder experience
- (Bonus) Maya API / Plugin Experience
- (Bonus) Familiarity with Blender
