Job Description
Magic Leap, Inc. is seeking a Senior Patent Counsel to join its advanced intellectual property team. Magic Leap is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and has several active locations. This position is being developed in our Silicon Valley location, which is where our Chief Patent Officer is located, but would entail work with inventors from all over the world. Magic Leap is an innovative company and runs a relatively large/growing worldwide patent portfolio with a diverse group of technologies.
Responsibilities
Keen interest in technology and integrated systems; desire to constantly continue learning in a fast-paced environment with many technical complexities (our systems combine many technical fields); desire to “dig in”, work through invention disclosures with inventors, learn the technology, write and prosecute cases all over the world, be a valued member of a dynamic team;

- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills;
- Natural leadership skills; use of sound judgment and attention to detail;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to stay flexible in dynamic work environment;
- Strong writing ability and exceptional communication skills to sustain close working relationships with internal attorneys and colleagues, as well as outside counsel attorneys/paralegals/staff;
- Knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures and a strong understanding of foreign patent prosecution procedures;
- Knowledge of filing requirements for both US and PCT applications.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and/or physics; advanced degrees, research experience, or professional experience in engineering or physics a plus;
- Member of the Federal Patent Bar for minimum of 5 years with significant experience in all aspects of U.S. and international patent prosecution, preferably with significant training in a mid to large law firm environment focused upon international patent prosecution;member of California Bar
