Job Description
This position is for an Optical Engineer working in Magic Leap’s Calibration team.
- A member of the Optical Engineering R&D team who will be heavily involved in developing and implementing display calibration processes.
- Working under the direction of senior personnel, help design and develop calibration processes to meet display KPIs.
- Work in close collaboration with opto-mechanical, factory operations, online calibration and program management teams to perform research and development of optical components, including investigation of cutting-edge technology to meet high-performance design objectives.
- Duties include designing experiments; collecting, analyzing and interpreting data; technical problem solving; innovating creative solutions; and clear communication of findings.
Qualifications
- Experience with camera/imaging systems and general laboratory optics is required.
- Experience with data analysis, statistics and graphing (such as JMP) is required.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are required
- Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills and good organizational skills
- Must be confident in a highly dynamic and creative environment
- Must be able to communicate and work well with multidisciplinary groups
- Experience with opto-mechanics and automation, including precision alignment and fast prototyping of complex optical systems, is highly preferred.
- Software experience with technical computing software (such as MATLAB, Python and/or LabView, C++/C#) is preferred.
Education
- BS degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields, with 2+ years of commercial experience in Calibration.
