As a Narrative Designer you will help us build a world that speaks to a diverse audience, creating stories that are inclusive. You will also leverage your experience and knowledge of the storytelling craft to balance our game’s narrative goals with Blizzard’s core value of Gameplay First .
You will develop characters, identify and improve structural problems within a narrative, and explain the reasons behind creative decisions. You will also help other members of the team find the appropriate fantasy for their gameplay ideas.

We Need Your Help With
- Collaborating with other design teams in crafting memorable stories that give structure to our world and the experiences found within
- Building and prototyping systems that allow for storytelling within the constraints of the gameplay
- Championing the needs of story, character, and worldbuilding across the team
- Collaborating with other disciplines to implement narrative content such as dialogue, strings, objectives, etc
- Mentoring junior and aspiring narrative designers, as well as providing new perspectives to other designers
- Crafting compelling dialog, quest, and all other supporting text
- Lending new perspectives to how we tell stories
- Embracing Blizzard's core value of "Every voice matters," creating a safe space for collaboration, communication, and creativity across all disciplines and departments.
You’re Good At
- 5+ years experience as a professional Narrative Designer or combination of applicable training and experience.
- Self-driven, passionate, creative problem solver, and a great team first attitude
- Pitching game narrative concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills
- Organization and meeting deadlines
- Self-critiquing and accept outside feedback
- Being self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Extra Awesome Points For
- Experience with writing for AAA games
- One or more shipped titles
- Dialogue systems experience and/or interest
- Experience with technical narrative design (implementation, scripting, etc)
- Published writing (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics, etc)
- Enjoy playing a variety of video game genres and titles

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
