Senior Narrative Designer (Multiplayer Action)

We are looking for a Senior Narrative Designer join our team in the development AAA multiplayer action title in Unreal Engine 5, to help develop multiplayer narrative content for launch and beyond, into live operations and seasonal content. This huge project aims to take tone, atmosphere, storytelling, and narrative into ground-breaking territory via its focus on multiplayer. Our Narrative Designer will work in collaboration with Writers and Designers, bridging the gap between the two.

They will work with a diverse team of Writers, including external writing teams, to create compelling characters and a story which integrates the overall narrative of the game with the gameplay.

This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Narrative Designer with experience creating and delivering interactive story, and the knowledge, ambition, and impeccable standards to deliver their career-best work. You will help shape an exciting blockbuster title in active development.

You will work closely with a wide range of disciplines to deliver, iterate, evolve and polish gameplay elements to the highest quality possible; ensuring they are fun and satisfying to play.

Requirements

Pre-Production:

• Assist with the development of greenlight / pitch materials.
• Help develop the overall narrative framework for a live service
• Write barks and help oversee use of light narrative elements in prototypes
• Establish working relationships and pipeline with writers and developers

• Write the high-level Narrative Design Document

Production:

• Write the Narrative Design Document
• Integrate writing and design
• Oversee and design environmental storytelling

• Design the live ops narrative
• Reviewing the game, to identify situations for narrative improvement and specifically what those improvements should be
• VO / mocap attendance and reviewing to ensure continuity and to select takes etc
• Determining and working with tools to deliver the narrative design
• Help grow, develop, and champion, the narrative design team within the wider development

Post-Production and Post-Launch:

• React to community sentiment and live ops data to evolve the live ops story
• Continue to introduce new characters, environments, and branching stories.

Role Requirements:

• Significant professional game development experience with an impressive portfolio

• Shipped at least two narrative-led titles in a narrative design role
• Exceptional knowledge of all storytelling techniques
• Obsessive about delivering the very best player experience
• Working knowledge of game design and mission design principles
• A great communicator who is respected by their peers

• Ability to add to each project – proactive and driven, not waiting for tasks from others
• An intuition for, and interest in, multiplayer action games
