Overview
Bethesda Softworks is looking for a NOC Senior System Administrator who will have a high sense of urgency and passion for fighting fires. As the front line supporting the online gaming experience your mission will be to ensure game services are available, fast, and any issues get resolved as quickly as possible. You will be the center of all communications and key to the success of our products. NOC Senior Systems Administrators are depended on for technical expertise across several systems and services within our organization. Seniors act as a Tier 2 escalation point for our Tier 1 Admin team and are responsible for advanced incident investigation and/or resolution. As a NOC Senior, you will become a subject matter expert (SME) for various products, games, and services across our company. You will closely work with product teams for onboarding new or existing products into the NOC for operational support.

We operate in a fast-paced environment so the ability to prioritize and communicate quickly is vital.
24/7/365 schedule flexibility in this role will be needed to ensure our customers can always have access to a world class gaming experience. You will need to be confident in troubleshooting and supporting large Linux and Cloud environments with hundreds of servers across the globe.
Our goal is for the NOC to solve 80%+ of the incidents that occur without having to escalate to other supporting teams. To meet this goal, we are looking for individuals that can think on their feet and have a solid foundation of core technology to isolate and resolve issues as they arise.
- Work closely with partners to onboard new or existing products into NOC
- Develop and maintain support documents
- Build and develop alerting solutions in monitoring services
- Serves as the point of escalation for tier 1 support teams
- Documents and educates colleagues on various technical discoveries
- Intermediate troubleshooting of systems, network, and applications
- Participates in 24/7/365 support and maintenance activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years Linux Admin experience (CLI)
- Minimum 2+ years of NOC or help-desk experience
- Minimum 1 year experience working with AWS
- Minimum 1 year experience working with Azure
- Experience with monitoring services such as Splunk, New Relic, Kibana, Pingdom, or Shinken
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex environments
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Availability for 24/7/365 Tier 2 on-call service
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools like ECS, Kubernetes, Meso, OpenShift, or Docker Swarm
- Experience with a logging solution such as Splunk, Sumologic, or Elasticsearch
- Experience creating service monitoring dashboards
- Experience with automation tools such as Salt or Chef
- Knowledge of ITIL-based Operation Service best practices
- Collaborative and approachable mindset
- Experience with MMOs or online gaming
