PeopleFun is seeking a highly skilled Backend Server Engineer to join our backend engineering team. Working on the game team you will be integral to the planning and implementation of a robust server architecture to propel the product into live service and beyond.
As an expert in your craft, you have experience designing and architecting C# server code, as well as the ability to maintain and build upon existing features and code. Professional experience of GCP (Cloud Run or GKE) architecture planning and development is desirable.
You will preferably have online and mobile gaming development experience, along with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for video games.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement well-engineered, secure, reliable, maintainable, and bug-free API’s, applications and systems
- Partner closely with the Lead Developer and server team to develop and improve client, server, and database architecture
- Perform backend and database performance assessment, support, and optimization
- Design and develop solutions addressing reliability, scalability and security
- Implement industry best practices from an architectural and engineering standpoint
- Select appropriate frameworks and programming and integrate existing client/server systems with 3rd party platforms
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science or Game Development or equivalent
- 5+ years engineering experience developing RESTful API’s and backend servers to support client applications, especially mobile applications
- Expertise in .Net Core ot Java
- Knowledge and experience of ASP.NET a plus
- Experience coding against large data systems
- Familiarity with Google cloud-based services or AWS and engineering development including CI/CD practices
- Experience working with k8s and containerized applications (eg. Docker)A champion of code quality and a proven mentor
Desired Qualities:
- Experience developing, maintaining and running live ops for world-scale games
- Experience working with Anthos Service Mesh a plus
- Experience in deploying, operating, and scaling dedicated game servers for session-based, multiplayer games
- Directly involved with developing, maintaining, shipping, and supporting full development cycle of multiple client/server-based games
