Senior Motion Designer - Freelance

ustwo New York is looking for a contract Motion Graphics Designer to join our NYC based team.

We’re looking for an experienced, forward-thinking senior level Motion Designer with a UI focus who can expand upon existing designs and illustrations and bring them to life through animation. You will be working in a cross-discipline team, collaborating with delivery, strategy, and other product designers to enhance design prototypes and vision outputs. You are comfortable working iteratively and can pivot seamlessly between digital platforms. Senior level freelancers will likely be involved in a high level of client stakeholder interaction, so clear communication skills are critical.

Responsibilities:

• Creation of motion graphics assets using existing brand illustrations for characters, props, environments, and UI components
• Conception and execution of 2D and 2.5D motion graphics animation-based designs that improve upon the existing UX/UI design work to date
• Creation of motion sketches that explore multiple takes on a given state or experience
• Expansion of the existing illustration library as needed to support your work
• Creation of principles or best practices that can inform the clients future animation pipeline
• Refinement of prioritized explorations into production ready animation files for developers in the form of GIFs, MP4s and Lottie files

Requirements:

• History of telling compelling stories through unique creative assets and visual interactions
• Expert knowledge of After Effects and exporting animations into Lottie, GIF or other formats for product design
• Ability to work within existing brand guidelines, assets, and designs
• Ability to work iteratively, collaborating closely with various project disciplinary leads and clients in order to define problems and goals
• Ability to clearly articulate challenges and opportunities as well as give and receive feedback from other designers and cross-disciplinary partners
• Familiarity with Figma and its prototyping tools

• Experience with sound design, ability to incorporate audio cues into your work
• Experience using Bodymovin & DUIK for After Effects
• Experience with Rive or other similar packages
• Experience with flat color, polygonal illustration styles

• Experience with animation for games

This role is expected to be fully remote within the United States and working on an EST time zone. This is a full-time/40-hour a week contract position starting at the end of February 2022 and lasting for approximately 4 weeks. Please provide a link to your online portfolio.

The hourly rate range for this position is from $75 - $110 per hour based on experience, skillset, location, and market demands.
