Senior Motion Designer & Animator

We’re looking for a skillful Motion Designer and Animator to create fun, original, and if we’re being honest with ourselves, completely nonsensical videos with 2D and 3D effects. We mean weird. Like weird weird. This is an excellent opportunity to work with our Creative Director and other teams (including agencies) to produce compelling videos.

As a member of the creative team, you’ll help inform how we communicate the Discord brand to the world and support the creative development of all of our marketing needs. We’re a friendly, collaborative team who focus on creating high-quality experiences that elevate Discord above everything else. If creating animated videos that make a viewer think “What did I just watch?” is your thing, you’ll fit right in.

What you'll be doing

• Work with our Creative Director and collaborate with our teams (and sometimes agencies) to produce compelling videos.
• Taking projects from concept to delivery of short form video content: storyboard, design, animate, render and ship to team
• Creating video content for social media and advertising
• Creating video trailers for communications and marketing needs
• Creating videos for slates, bumpers, transitions, mnemonics, etc
• Creating 2d and 3d graphics and illustrations for video animation
• Doing audio production, post-production, VO Recording, etc

What you should have

• 5+ years Motion Graphics experience in an in-house team or agency
• 5+ years experience in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro
• 5+ years experience with Photoshop, After Effects, Cinema 4D and any other 3D programs
• Expert knowledge of the Adobe Suite and Cinema 4D; familiarity with Maya or other tool sets a plus.
• A strong understanding of the creation of inspiring visual effects and should exhibit creativity, technical and artistic skills
• Ability to pick up new software and tools quickly
• Familiarity with AV Post Production workflows
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Portfolio or reel required with application
