Senior Mechanical Engineer

CTRL-labs is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help extend our product portfolio. You will dive deep into designs, materials, methods, suppliers, and partners. You will be part of a team developing novel construction and manufacturing methodologies to support an entirely new class of wearable products.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Drive the mechanical development and validation of a wearable EMG system
- Work closely with ID, electrical engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams to design products at a system level
- Work closely with our scientific team to define performance requirements
- Collaborate closely with our manufacturing partners around all design and production tradeoffs
- Direct the work of outside supporting engineering groups, including partners, contractors, and manufacturing engineers
- Lead the mechanical implementation of ID concepts
- Create specifications for mechanical systems, and validate and demonstrate adherence to those specifications
- Lead product through alpha, beta, and engineering build cycles
- Select and manage vendors, including supplier quality management
- Define manufacturing processes and own the handoff of mechanical work to assembly teams
- Assess risks and tradeoffs of design features and/or implementations
- Define and utilize drafting/CAD/PLM best practices
- Present design work and research broadly, including to executive management
- Define, delegate, mentor, and review work assignment of junior/staff team members
- Participate in recruiting and retention
Job Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- 6+ years mechanical design and team leadership experience, preferably in consumer electronics
- Proven execution of in-market, high volume products
- Proven familiarity with core manufacturing methods
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Written and spoken English
- Wearables experience a plus
- Rigid-flex circuit integration experience a plus
