About the Position
Twitch is seeking a Senior Manager of Engineering to lead the Content Formats engineering team which is in charge of our video-on-demand (VOD) products, esports portfolio, as well as efforts to bring premium and non-gaming content to Twitch.
You will play a leading role in defining the vision for our products and building a world-class engineering organization to execute to that vision. You will work closely with the individual contributors and managers, as well as cross-team with engineering, product, business leads, and both Twitch and Amazon senior leadership to deliver high-visibility results. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated ability to build and manage teams, run an iterative development process, develop leaders, and have delivered at scale.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead an effective engineering team that delivers excellent results through rapid iterations
- Drive product vision, customer needs, and company goals with the team
- Provide thought leadership and a technical vision for the team
- Establish metrics and measurement for work and development processes,
- Lead proposals with executive leadership for new initiatives that include ask for incremental resource investment
- Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and measurement of efficiency and outcomes.
- Hire, develop and retain a team of managers, IC engineers and technical program managers
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent)
- At least 7+ years experience managing software development teams, Hands on experience managing and developing both individual contributors and engineering managers
- Strong technical credentials, ideally with some hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision, strategy, goals and lead team to execute on that basis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver quality technology products/services
- Demonstrated ability to run a high velocity / iterative / Agile process
- Experienced in navigating high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly
- Ability to prioritize well,
- Proven, clear communicator clearly verbally, in documents and via presentations
- Understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team; proven ability to influence others
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business
- Demonstrated experience delivering products, managing budgets and justifying resource needs to senior leaders and finance partners
- Background in the premium content, video products, community-based or social media products
