Senior Manager, Visual Design Art - Global Esports Creative

As the Head of Art & Design on the Global Esports team, you’ll build & lead the design team responsible for developing world class visual creative to elevate cultural perception & drive growth for the world’s largest esports.

Reporting to the Head of Global Esports Creative, you will oversee the holistic portfolio of Riot’s Esports, including LoL Esports, VALORANT Esports, Wild Rift Esports, and any future sports. You will set & uphold the quality bar and design principles for your team, fostering a culture of innovation that results in resonant & breakthrough visual work. You will work with the Senior Leadership Team for Global Esports Marketing to ensure work is on-strategy & on-brand, while setting the processes & structure that ensures the design team will succeed. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, from Events to Broadcast to Business Development, building relationships that ensure design is always executed to the highest standard and spearheading any emergent opportunities.

Your passion and expertise in design’s most resonant & cutting edge trends – with particular expertise in sports, music & fashion – will be crucial when pushing your team to craft constantly-innovative and culturally compelling design work. Your experience as a seasoned design team leader, with high-level communication skills and confidence in balancing multiple products will help us develop top tier creative for passionate fans, and soon-to-be fans, around the world.

Responsibilities:

• Define and uphold the quality bar for visual aesthetic across all Riot Esports
• Foster a culture of innovation, where breakthrough & cross-culture design work is executed daily
• Find and recruit exceptional studios and talent for each sport
• Ensure a unique visual aesthetic for each Riot Esport, keeping each as a unique brand
• Manage, mentor & grow Art Director & Designer talent
• Provide design and art feedback to internal and external developers to maintain quality and consistency across all products
• Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to drive overall art strategy for Riot Esports
• Communicate art vision to cross-functional partners & collaborate to ensure design is executed to the highest standard across all touchpoints
• Standardize & improve the tools, processes & structures within the design team for the greatest success

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years experience concepting & executing a breadth of breakthrough art direction & design work
• An exceptional portfolio of culturally-relevant sport & lifestyle art direction work that showcases a breadth of styles & aesthetics
• Expert knowledge of conceptual art direction, design, storytelling and the creative development process
• Expert knowledge of brand building, typography, and visual design systems
• Experience managing a team of artists, providing feedback & direction that guides the work and their professional development
• Experience guiding vendors to the best creative output
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Miro, and Google Slides
• Innovative approaches to systems to distribute brand kits & uphold quality standards across widespread distribution
• An uncompromising, high level design taste
• Persistent self-education around innovations in marketing creative

Desired Qualifications:

• Passion for sports, gaming, or esports
• Experience in areas such as motion graphics, animation, or 3D/CG production
