Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Wētā Pipeline

The Opportunity

Unity is accelerating the development of artist tools, with products such as Wētā Digital Tools, Ziva Dynamics and SpeedTree, to make the entire process of crafting 3D graphics, content and experiences more intuitive and accessible to creators! By joining us, you will help democratize the most powerful tools of the industry and make them accessible to a wide range of users.

In this position, you will drive your team through the content creation pipeline to deliver turn-key solutions. You will focus on the integration, packaging and distribution of many artist tools, libraries and services in order to offer an end-to-end experience to creative studios.

You will balance your ability to solve hard problems with your desire to understand and facilitate the success of a highly technical team. The position requires close collaboration with teams across multiple organizations.

You will consider the workflows and user pain, be creative and thrive when working in a multidisciplinary team. In your everyday work you will make critical decisions that cut across multiple teams, iterate on ideas with a wide range of partners, contribute to code and technical design, work with multiple feedback channels and consistently learn. What you’ll be doing

• Integrate, package and distribute content creation pipelines
• Partner with Product Managers, Artists and Designers to understand customer needs and define roadmaps
• Build, mentor and grow a team of experienced engineers in an inclusive environment
• Unblock obstacles, collaborate with partners and empower engineers on the team to do their best work
• Directly contribute to the code and to the architectural roadmap of your domain and promote high engineering standards

What we’re looking for

• Deep expertise of VFX pipelines and workflows
• Experience as an Engineering Team Lead or Manager of Software Engineering supervising small to medium sized teams
• Industry experience in professional software development with proficiency in C++, Python, data structures, algorithms, engineering principles and practices
• Practical knowledge of service-oriented architectures

You might also have

• Experience with VFX pipeline infrastructure spanning multiple locations
• Experience with testing frameworks and modern CI/CD systems
• Familiarity with Universal Scene Description
