The Sandbox VR People Team is comprised of three major functional areas, People Ops & Systems, Centers of Excellence, and our Business Partners. This role will be responsible for leading the strategy for our Store Experience Business Partner function, and serve as a member of the People Leadership Team.
This individual will be expected to flex between coach, tactician, and strategist, ensuring our store experience function is well prepared to hire, engage, and retain our store team members. A great candidate will be expected make sound decisions and develop that capacity to make similarly good decisions in others. We are gearing up for an exciting time of growth, and it's critical we make sure we are growing in a sustainable, risk-free way.
What You'll Do:
- Lead - Coach and mentor a current team of one Store Experience People Generalist, and build a scaling plan for the team to mirror future store growth
- Plan & Execute - Actively participate in the People team's quarterly OKR planning, and lead any subsequent initiatives for the with structure with purpose.
- Lead Compliance Efforts - Develop and implement Store Experience human resources policies, procedures, programs, and practices in compliance with federal and state labor laws. Ensure compliance efforts are adopted across the business, and submit required employment-related reports to regulatory agencies.
- Talent Strategy - Develop a long and short term Store Experience people strategy in partnership with Operations Senior Leadership and the VP of People, in alignment with SBVR's strategic plan.
- Recruiting Strategy - Partner with Recruiting to develop recruiting strategies and staffing plans to attract top talent.
- Org Development - Develop and manage a competitive compensation structure and workforce planning strategies to attract and retain a skilled, diverse, effective workforce.
- Coach - Advise leadership on the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and procedures for interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews and harassment issues.
- Iterate and Optimize our People Lifecycle - Monitor current processes, procedures, and compliance opportunities with recommendations for how to best resolve.
What We Are Looking For:
- People Ops Expertise - Top tier candidates will have deep experience and knowledge including - but not limited to - understanding of local, multi-state and regional compliance, on-boarding, terminations, and employee relations; and extensive experience working in a business with a non-exempt, distributed workforce.
- Start-Up Mentality - We like people who are solution-oriented, good at decision-making, and comfortable with making sense of ambiguity with an eye towards building for scalable growth. Our teams all work remotely, so you should be comfortable working on your own and connecting online or in person as the case dictates.
- High EQ - You should be great at communicating - verbally and digitally across regions and levels. You should demonstrate a great degree of empathy and self-awareness, while helping resolve issues across the business.
- Data-Driven - We are a data-driven company so the ability to produce data to support key theories is a must.
- Ability to Travel - As business needs dictate, you may need to travel to stores across the country and internationally (in year 2+)
