Sr. Manager, Physical Security Operations
San Mateo, CA
At PlayStation, the safety of our employees and our guests is your top priority. We are looking for a creative, innovative, well-rounded, and dynamic professional to drive the development and standardization of security policies and programs for safeguarding PlayStation’s operations. This position is based in San Mateo and will lead all aspects of Security for up to 5-10 corporate sites. Additionally, you will lead our Event Security program, implementing and executing security programs for large-scale events both domestic and international.
- Build, establish, implement and verify compliance with security programs across the security spectrum to include: security guard services, physical security design standards, security awareness training, safety and risk.
- Use technology and systems to create and automate processes and support systems that are sustainable and scalable.
- Protect the company’s assets and people from harm; keep the physical perimeters safe and secure. Assess and evaluate the varying level of physical security risks that could impact the business. These include threats and risks to: people, assets, operations, and brand. Recommend, and implement, risk mitigation techniques and tactics based upon industry standard methodologies.
- Serve as team lead for investigations.
- Support travel security, special events, and journey management programming as needed.
- Work with our Events team to build and implement effective security programs for local and international events.
- Possess a capacity for proactive and strategic thinking and a track record demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, organizational leadership, and results-oriented attitude to influence outcomes. The incumbent will lead a team of disbursed physical security professionals, outside guarding services, desk reception professionals, and vendor support contracts.
- Envelop project management principles to govern physical security programs and special projects. Conducts, supervises, and prepares project plans, reports, and documentation in support of operational readiness and other enterprise requirements. Responsible for metrics and other team success measures.
Related Responsibilities Include:
- Implement, coordinate and lead the corporate security programs at our San Mateo Headquarters and downtown San Francisco operations.
- Develop and oversee standard operating procedures for designs, configuration and implementation of physical security systems for both people and asset protection. These procedures should be built in a manner that allows adoption by other SIE locations.
- Lead site security guard force and provide assistance with contract oversight to ensure compliance with contract provisions, requirements and service levels.
- Conduct physical security assessments for each site; evaluating general building construction, door hardware, life safety, locks/keys, security systems (alarm, card access systems, CCTV, intercom) and communicate findings and recommendations to department management and security systems staff.
- Conduct internal security investigations in cases of theft, fraud, violence, threats or similar cases of misconduct by employees, contractors or other invitees. Ensure that investigations are conducted according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations and law.
- Recognize, respond to, and recommend actions to address both potential and realized security and safety risks affecting personnel or property.
- Support day to day security operations to include guard force management, alarm response, special event management
- Partner with regional and site resources including others in Operations, IT, Corporate Security, Human Resources, Legal and Business Continuity Planning on security matters
- Serve as Subject-Matter-Expert for security and safety topics and issues. Keep abreast of new regulations, industry best practices, industry trends and technology, products and services.
- Work with senior management to build a security conscious culture
- Partner with our GSOC to assist with running table-top emergency exercises and notifications.
Requirements
- 7+ years as a security manager in a multi-location corporate environment or equivalent work experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to associates and management across diverse global sites
- Proven working knowledge of Workplace Incident Management, Emergency Response, and Crisis Management
- Shown ability to accurately take decisive action based on available information in a timely manner
- A conscientious teammate with business maturity, innovative ways, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Direct experience working with technical elements of physical security management (visitor mgt, access control, CCTV, etc)
- Proven experience leading teams
- Superior communication skills (technical writing, electronic, and verbal); must be able to communicate with impact
- Demonstrated ability to build an effective physical security program
- Previous success working within a rapidly changing corporate environment
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% per month; most travel is within California
Preferences:
- CCURE9000/Mur3 Experience
- Possession of any or all of the following certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Member of Business Continuity Institute (MBCI), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
- Excellent computer skills (hardware, software and network operations)
- Able to delegate tasks and communicate to a range of audiences including executive management
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Superior time-management, communication, technical writing, presentation development, facilitation, and organizational skills required
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, resolve conflicts, and maximize efficiencies of available resources
