Senior Manager, Global Studio Resource Management
1 year ago
Who we are
At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and background impact the games we make.
We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we’ll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you’re passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.
About the role
At Fortis, we embrace a remote-first, global work environment. No more multiple separate studios worldwide. We're one cohesive global studio, enabling talent to move between projects based on business priorities, project needs, and employee aspirations.
As the Global Studio Resource Manager, you will be the key person in enabling this flow of people from project to project within our one global studio of hundreds of game developers. You will be working closely with multiple different stakeholder groups, to balance the company, project and employee needs.
What you’ll build
As the Global Studio Resource Manager reporting to the Head of Studio Operations, you will be a key contributor to our Global Studio organization supporting our rapid multinational expansion (which is already underway) and enabling us to build truly game-changing products.
- Your focus will be on designing, evolving, and scaling the Resource Management function within our Agile Global Studio organization so it can consistently deliver a portfolio of high-quality, long-lasting service games at scale.
- In partnership with key stakeholders from the People Team, Finance, Product, and Game Production, you will own and operate our resource management function. This involves building high-performing teams that can quickly scale up or down based on constantly shifting internal and market needs, while helping match Fortizens with the best opportunities for them to learn and grow their skill sets.
- You will provide a source of truth view that can be trusted to show correct current assignments.
- You will partner with guild leaders and producers to make individual allocation decisions and map everyone’s skillset in the Global Studio.
- You will work with producers to onboard/offboard team members appropriately.
- You will work in partnership with the people and the finance teams to make sure that we have the right tools and processes to ensure our people data is adequate for our needs.
- You will work with recruiting to get the right jobs open when a decision is made to hire instead of internal transfer.
Joining our remote-first company, you'll be part of an internationally dispersed team. You can be based in any focus countries mentioned at the top of the job advert, as long as you have reliable high-speed communication, and you're available for meetings between US West Coast and Eastern European time zones. Occasional travel may be required.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Experienced (5+ years) in resource management positions within cross cultural international companies that build complex, global, scalable teams to develop products
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn - we believe this is essential to our ability to stay ahead of the market and value this over years of experience
- We expect our leaders to continue being students of their craft and the game spaces they’re working in. You should be educated on the latest tech, game and work trends and have a strong perspective on how they relate to our current and future projects
- Must be flexible with working across multiple time zones as there will be a level of synchronous collaboration with people across teams in multiple countries
Why join us
There are many reasons to join us, but here are a few:
- We strongly believe we are changing how games studios operate and at the core of what we do is making great games that create a connected community
- We're not just about making Games Where You Belong. We're also about building communities where our people belong. That's why Fortis is a thriving environment that celebrates diversity, embraces inclusivity, and fosters growth.
- Build and grow with a seasoned team of accomplished talent who have left an impactful mark in their disciplines, both in and out of gaming
